Can the volume of the rear speakers/channels be independently controlled?

On X60 only the "surround" channels can be controlled and it seems like a really bad decision to not allow able to raise the volume of the rear speakers as needed.

So, how is it on X50?

I don't understand how is it possible that such a basic functionality is missing from a flagship product like X60 (and most likely X70 as well ...)

As a user, I think controlling each rear speaker separately can be counterproductive if you don’t have audio know-how: it’s easy to unbalance the scene and lose surround coherence. I do understand some users find it useful—every room and listener is different—but in my case, with the Skywave X40 I don’t need to tweak R/L independently. With Surround Level I adjust the whole rear block, and with Up-Firing Level I calibrate the height channels; the factory pre-EQ already keeps things well balanced.


If independent control is added someday, it’d be best under Advanced Settings with some limits/guidance so the balance isn’t compromised.

No, not independently as left - right channels.

Independently as separate from the global surround volume, both at the same time. As it is now I CANNOT adjust the volume for the rear speakers.

X60 is 7.1.4.

And the surround volume controls both "surround" speakers which are actually on the soundbar AND the rear speakers.

Which means that if I want to turn up the volume for the rear set I will turn up the volume for the surround (the front) in set as well. Which is plainly wrong.

To address your issue, the surround volume adjustment function on the remote control (supporting a ±6dB range) currently allows you to increase the overall volume of the surround channels (including the rear speakers). However, independent adjustment of the front and rear surround channels is not possible.

Optimize rear speaker placement: Place the rear speakers symmetrically as much as possible, or adjust them to the recommended position (e.g., an appropriate distance from the listener) to improve the perceived volume balance.

Is it possible to add this function through an OTA/firmware update for X60? At least in the application since on the remote might be harder (but not impossible)

That would be great.

It's not that easy to bring the speakers closer and I didn't plan to buy stands. Controlling the rear volume is a basic function that the product should have had already.
