Ah, looks like my luck isn’t in my favor these days 😔

Been waiting so long for the Skywave X series, but I guess it’s just not meant to be this time. Still, it’s nice seeing others finally getting to experience it - maybe someday my turn will come too. 🙏✨

Wishing good luck to everyone participating in the contest! 🍀♥️

Thank you for your support and for sharing content that helps so many people. Once the X70 is in your hands, that review is going to be a blast. 💥

Come on, there’s less time left than yesterday! 🎬🍿🤗

On the strange bug I experienced with the loud noise coming out of standby. Just go to settings and disable IR pass-through, apparently this is causing the poping sound and ear breaking noise. Plain simple, but sometimes you overlook certain settings🤓, so problem resolved. :)

Thank you for sharing your valuable experience with the community: "Disabling IR passthrough resolves the popping sound during idle mode."

You are not only a user of Ultimea products, but also a "product co-creator" who works with us on this journey. We hope this small adjustment will make your audiovisual experience even more seamless. 🎉

The Ultimea Team

Also, after using this Skywave X70 as main unit for the past two weeks, you have to let the system dial in. This is the first unit in which I experienced that kind of behavior. My previous Samsung's, Tcl, Sennheiser Ambeo and Yamaha ysp5600 and full Sonos set up didn't show such kind of changing sound. Unbox the units and mostly after set up, this is the sound you get after a bit of tweaking. X70 is a complete other animal and is straight out of the box very raw with a sub that isn't at ease. Now, at two different places upstair and downstairs you hear everything falling in its place and the sub is much more coherent to the soundbar and rears. The up mix function is quite astonishing, what is does with AAC multichannel or even stereo PCM sound from YouTube for example. This is the best I ever heard from any soundbar system. It sounds just like the original multi Dolby track or DTS track. Very impressive and very well done team sound engineers.
For movie and series it plays just as good as my full Sonos set up which include an arc ultra, 2 x era 300, a dual sub 4 and with special trick two era 100 as fronts.
If you count value for money, it's almost unbelievable such system match this premium setup. Before the trolls and fanboys start to wake up, you have to put this statement in perspective. The Sonos set up and X 70 have complete different sound profiles and the front stage of Sonos is wider and center is more pronounced but the performance of those two back surround and that sub match easily the performance of the dual set-up sub and two eras 300 which is kind devastating to the Sonos set up at that price point. This is just in movie and series category in music listening the Sonos is the clear winner which is no surprise. This is their core business, but the X70 is no slouch either, with just Bluetooth available it does a pretty decent job of making music as convincing as possible.
So this is my follow-up to the main review, if I have any other thoughts I discover in the newt weeks I post them here. So long ;)

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with this valuable review, using such a professional perspective and rigorous comparison standards! 🎉

1. Regarding "Systems Need Time to Fall in"
You described the X70's unboxing experience as "completely different beasts," and that metaphor couldn't be more accurate! You observed that the system needed time to "fall into place" and the sound became more "harmonious." We strive to create a dynamic, adaptive audio system that constantly learns and optimizes, rather than a fixed "off-the-shelf" system.

2. Regarding "Excellent Upmixing"
Your description of the upmixing function—"the best of any soundbar system I've ever heard" and that it delivers "indistinguishable from the original Dolby or DTS soundtrack"—is the highest praise for our team of acoustic engineers. We've shared your exact words with the team, and they've undoubtedly been a great boost of confidence!

3. Regarding Comparisons with Top-tier Systems
The fact that you compared the X70 head-to-head with your fully equipped Sonos top-tier setup is a tremendous vote of confidence in our product's performance. Your conclusions of "comparable performance for movies and TV series" and "almost unbelievable value for money" are exactly the new benchmarks we aspire to set in the market. Your analysis of the differences in sonic characteristics (soundstage width, center channel clarity) is also incredibly objective and professional.

We can't wait to see any new discoveries you make in the coming weeks. Your continued sharing is the Ultimea community's greatest asset!

Sincerely,
The Ultimea Team

It's interesting that the X70 needs a while to “set itself up”! I’ve never heard of a soundbar needing a “burn-in” period before. 🤭

I. Unboxing
The 110cm matte black soundbar with a fabric grille blends effortlessly into any home style without looking out of place (I love minimalism😃).
The wireless subwoofer and rear speakers completely eliminate the hassle of wiring, making it perfect for those who hate messy cables (like me🤩).

II. Installation and Connection

HDMI eARC One-Touch Direct Connection: Automatically recognizes the TV upon power-up, no complicated setup required.

App Assist: 9-band EQ adjustment available, switching to "Cinema" mode for instant results.

Bluetooth Mode Disabled: When connected to Bluetooth, the rear speakers are automatically disabled, leaving only the soundbar and subwoofer.

Device Recognition Delay: There's a 2-3 second delay when switching input sources, so impatient people might want to be patient.

III. Sound Quality
1. Movie Immersion

Low-Frequency Dominance: The 10-inch subwoofer delivered devastating power during the nuclear explosion scene in "Oppenheimer," with the sofa resonating clearly and distortion-free. Vocal Clarity: With "Standard Mode" enabled, dialogue was consistently clear, even during explosions.

2. Music Performance

The mid-range was rich when playing pop music over Bluetooth, but high-frequency detail was slightly stiffer than on the Sonos.

The lack of Wi-Fi support prevented high-bitrate streaming, creating an invisible ceiling in sound quality.

3. Game Compatibility

Cyberpunk 2077's ambient sound effects were accurately positioned, but gunfire lacked the punch of the Sony HT-A9.

IV. Other Verifications
1. Dolby Atmos Compatibility

The system correctly identified and decoded Disney+ Atmos sources, with a strong presence of the overhead channel.

However, when playing local TrueHD 7.1 files, the system required manual switching to PCM output, otherwise the rear channels would sound abnormal.

2. Amazing Upmixing Algorithm
The effect of converting YouTube stereo videos into multi-channel audio is stunning.

V. Pain Points for Improvement
Firmware Stability: Version V17 still occasionally experiences popping noise when waking from standby mode.
Rear Speaker Control: The volume cannot be adjusted independently, and the presence of the rear speakers is weak when they are far away.
Closed Ecosystem: No Wi-Fi, DTS decoding support, or AirPlay/Chromecast.

Overall, it was a very pleasant shopping experience. I hope that Wi-Fi functionality and independent rear volume control can be added via OTA in the future! I'll keep an eye on it! I'll continue to use and test it, and hope for more wonderful experiences.🤗
