Soundbar X70 availability

Hello all, I live in England ( UK) and have been watching the developement of the Skywave X70 sound bars system for some months and in the meantime I have built a new media wall and large tv system etc. the X70 fits everything I wan to complete the build.

However the X70 is not yet available in the UK, the X40 is through Amazon only, the problem I have is if I have it shipped from the US to UK as a personal gift item it will attract import duty of 2.5% ( okay ) and Vat of 20% ( not okay) is there any plans for the X70 to be available here via Amazon?

Hi Jeff, welcome!

You’re absolutely right – at the moment the Skywave X70 isn’t listed on Amazon UK yet, while the X40 and other Ultimea models are already available there.

The good news is that on Ultimea’s official site the X70 page already shows a specific “UK” shipping region with the variant marked as “UK – Arriving Soon”, including a UK price option. That basically means there is a dedicated UK release planned, even though it’s not live yet.

Regarding taxes: if you import it yourself from the US, HMRC will indeed charge around 2.5% duty plus 20% VAT on the value of the goods, and you may also get an extra handling fee from the courier. Unfortunately the 20% VAT is unavoidable in the UK either way – the only difference is whether you pay it as import VAT at the border, or as part of the final price when it ships from a UK/EU warehouse.

So my personal suggestion would be:

• Avoid importing it from the US, because you’ll pay duty + VAT + extra fees.
• Keep an eye on the official Ultimea store’s UK region, where the X70 is already shown as “Arriving Soon”. Once the UK option goes live, you should be able to order it with VAT handled at checkout and no surprise customs charges on delivery.

I’m just an active community collaborator here, not official staff, so I can’t give you exact dates. But as soon as the Ultimea team sees your post, they’ll be able to share more concrete and detailed information about UK availability.
