Netflix not playing Dolby Atmos on Poseidon D80 Boom but works fine on Disney Plus

Never had a problem playing Atmos content in Disney Plus but Netflix seems to always only play Spatial Audio in my Poseidon D80 Boom. I have TCL QLED TV, using eArc connection. I've tried changing all the settings (PCM, Auto, Passthrough) and didn't work. I have the Premium subscription on Netflix.

Hello! Thank you for providing such a detailed description of your situation, which was very helpful in troubleshooting. 🎧

The issue you're experiencing (Disney+ works fine but Netflix doesn't output Dolby Atmos) is indeed frustrating, but it's a relatively common issue, often rooted in device authentication or signal handshake issues rather than your Poseidon D80 Boom itself.

Restart Tip: Completely power off both the TV and the soundbar (unplug the power cord and wait for one minute), then power them back on. This clears temporary cache and error states and reestablishes audio handshake.

Check Netflix audio settings: While playing a video, press the Menu button on your remote and check for different audio tracks under "Audio" or "Language."

Try Another Port: If your TV has multiple HDMI (eARC/ARC) ports, try switching the soundbar to another port and reassigning the eARC function in the TV settings.

We hope the above information is helpful, and we welcome any additional information! We'll do our best to assist you with this issue! 🙏

Can you tell me what appears on the sound bar screen when you open Netflix?

Additional Tip:
If you're playing a movie with Dolby Atmos audio in the Netflix app, but the audio isn't actually in Dolby Atmos, you can restore the sound quality by selecting "English [Original Soundtrack] (Dolby Atmos)" in the "Other" section of the Netflix movie's settings.

If Netflix can't find any source with the Dolby ATMOS logo, you can set the TV audio output to passthrough or auto, then log out and log back in to Netflix to see if you can find the source with the logo. Netflix's "LOST IN SPACE" and "Wednesday" are both sources with the ATMOS logo.

We hope these tips are helpful and look forward to hearing from you!

Bonjour, le problème concerne votre propre installation. Veuillez bien sélectionner un film diffusé en vo et dolby atmos. Chez moi tous fonctionnent parfaitement sur mes deux installations (D60 et D80BOOM)

Tried the restart and unplug multiple times, no luck. No audio tracks are telling it's Dolby Atmos. Tried a different HDMI Port other than eArc, no luck.

just eArc, nothing else

No audio track is saying Dolby Atmos. PCM, Auto, Passthrough, tried it. Tried logging out, reinstalling Netflix. Tried Lost In Space, Wednesday, Mission: Impossible, Godzilla Minus One, All Quiet on the Western Front. Also tried replugging the eArc while on the Netflix app.

I've tried the original audio track if that's what you mean but no luck.

I've also tried turning off USB debugging but didn't work.

To best pinpoint the issue, we'd like to sincerely ask for your help:
Would you be so kind as to record a short video on your phone clearly demonstrating the following steps? This would greatly help us visualize the problem.

This video would help us determine if the issue lies with the Netflix app, the TV settings, or the signal transmission.

You can upload the video to a cloud drive and share the link with us via private message. Of course, we fully understand and respect your privacy. If recording a video is inconvenient, we'd be happy to continue to work with you through text to explore a solution.

Thank you again for your patience and trust. Our sole goal is to ensure you enjoy the full, breathtaking experience your Poseidon D80 Boom deserves. We look forward to hearing from you!

My initial assessment is that it's a TV compatibility issue. Netflix typically doesn't display Dolby ATMOS text because the TV's audio output isn't set to passthrough or Auto. Could you please help verify the issue?
1. Does the Sbar display anything when playing any Netflix source, such as Dolby Surround? Does reconnecting the HDMI cable restore the display?
2. Please turn off the TV, disconnect the power cord, wait for it to fully drain (2 minutes), and then power it back on to see if the issue persists.
3. Do you have other TVs in your home that can be connected to the Sbar? Do they experience the same issue?
Also, if possible, please contact TCL to find out why the Netflix app can't display ATMOS content, while Disney or other apps can. 🙏

Additional Information: The provided video shows that Netflix only recognizes our soundbar as a single speaker, and the source interface shows neither 5.1 nor ATMOS. This could be because the TCL TV isn't passing the correct EDID information to Netflix, causing Netflix to believe the device doesn't support ATMOS or 5.1. Alternatively, the TCL TV isn't a Netflix-certified model, preventing the app from triggering ATMOS. If you have a streaming media box, you can connect it to the Sbar HDMI to verify whether the issue is reproducible with Netflix on the box.

I finally figured it out. I had an auxiliary plugged in the TV’s audio jack. I don’t know why Netflix would prioritize AUX over EARC though unlike Disney+.

Off topic question. Is there a way i can play Apple Music’s Atmos without getting an Apple TV 4k? Playing music through bluetooth in iPhone 16 has the Dolby Atmos tag but it doesn’t sound like it and the soundbar doesn’t say Atmos. All the other music streaming that has Atmos isn’t available in my country. I can’t install Apple Music in an Android TV OS.

sorry 🥲

🎉 Great troubleshooting for the AUX vs. eARC issue! It's interesting—and honestly a bit puzzling—that Netflix prioritizes the analog AUX input over HDMI eARC, especially since Disney+ doesn't. This could be due to your TV's audio output settings or the Netflix app's behavior. Sometimes TVs have weird audio hierarchies. 😅

Since you mentioned Apple Music not working on your Android TV, here are some suggestions:

Use a compatible streaming device:
The Apple TV 4K is the most straightforward option, but devices like the Nvidia Shield TV Pro or some Amazon Fire TV models also support Dolby Atmos through apps like Tidal or Amazon Music—but unfortunately, Apple Music isn't available in most regions yet.

Other Atmos music services (if available in your country):

Tidal HiFi Plus → Supports Dolby Atmos music
Amazon Music Unlimited → Also offers Atmos tracks
…but availability depends heavily on region.

You're not the only one looking for easier access to Atmos music—it's still a nascent format, and compatibility issues remain.

If you need additional help, please feel free to contact us.
Happy exploring!

Another off topic question. Do I have to turn on Upmix when the source is in any 5.1 format? How does Upmix work? Does it just smear any non-atmos formats across all channels?

Experiment: Find the Upmix feature on your Poseidon D80 Boom.

A/B comparison: Find a familiar 5.1 content (like a movie on Netflix or Disney+) and switch between Dolby Surround and other modes (like Direct/Through) while playing. Listen to the difference with your ears.

Follow your preference: There's no right or wrong answer; use the mode you prefer.

We hope this explanation is helpful! Enjoy your sound system!
Happy exploration! 🙌

Hi

I usually keep Upmix on only when the source is stereo or 2.0, because that’s when it spreads the sound across all the speakers and feels more immersive.

If the source is already native 5.1 or Atmos, there’s no need to activate it since the soundbar distributes the audio correctly without forcing anything.

In short: Upmix is meant to fill in channels when the track doesn’t have them (like music or movies in 2.0), but if it’s already 5.1 or Atmos, it’s better to leave it as is.
