Hey all figured you might find this interesting!

Dolby announces Dolby Vision 2
At IFA 2025, Dolby Laboratories is introducing Dolby Vision 2, what it calls "a groundbreaking evolution of its industry-leading picture quality innovation." The second iteration has been updated to meet the capabilities of today's TV technology and the ever-expanding set of artist tools. Dolby Vision 2 includes a more powerful image engine, better optimization for your TV and features that go "beyond HDR."

For now only big words and nothing else. I don't really care about Dolby Vision or feature second ver. They can optimize for hardware to be able to use less resources, more colors beyond HDR hmm I don't have cat eyes to see that hehe.

Yeah a lot of big bold claims and then the AI references... We'll see where it goes!

🎉 Hey, thanks for sharing this news! It's so interesting to see Dolby pushing the boundaries again with Dolby Vision 2—even if it's just "talk" right now. 😄

You make a great point: all the specs and color science in the world mean nothing if our eyes can't actually perceive the difference! 👀
Maybe one day we'll all have built-in bionic cat's eyes... until then, here's hoping "better-optimizing your TV" really does mean smoother performance and longer panel life. 🙏

I agree with you—real performance trumps marketing. Still, it'll be interesting to see where this technology goes!

What do you all think? Will you upgrade for Dolby Vision 2? 🎬🫢

It had better come with some serious game changing improvements. I've been more than happy with HDR-10, HLG and regular Dolby Vision. I'm picky about my picture and audio settings... I don't know how I feel about AI adjusting my set up preferences at will. If it happened to truly blow me away then yeah sure! 😅 Until then I will stay curiously skeptical 🧐 🤔 🤣

😂 I totally get your feelings!
Of course, being picky about settings is perfectly acceptable!! There's nothing better than being able to fine-tune the picture and sound to your liking. The idea of AI taking over everything also makes me raise my eyebrows. 🧐

Hopefully, Dolby Vision 2 does arrive and proves worth the price of admission—until then, I'm happy to share your skepticism. 😄
