Soundbar ULTIMEA Quick Guide (5.1/7.1) — X40 & D80 Boom

Simple calibration — exactly how it worked for me..

Hi everyone

Sharing a quick guide to dial in the Skywave X40 (5.1) and Poseidon D80 Boom (7.1) in just a few minutes.



Guide 1 — 10 minutes (the essentials)

• Use HDMI eARC/ARC and set your TV to Bitstream/Passthrough/Auto (avoid PCM stereo).
• Soundbar centered under the TV; sub on one side, 10–30 cm away from walls/corners.
• X40 (5.1): Surround L/R at 110–120°, slightly behind the couch, ear height.
• D80 (7.1): Side surrounds at 100–110° + Back at 145–160° behind (slightly softer than sides).
• Starting point: Center +1 · Surround 0/+1 · Bass 0 · Treble 0.
• Quick check: if voices are weak, raise Center; if bass booms, reduce Bass/Sub –1/–2.

Guide 2 — Fine-tuning (balance without independent BACK control)

• Center +1/+3: aim to understand whispers without raising master volume.
• Surround (global) 0/+2: on D80, favor Back via placement (closer and aimed at you); set side surrounds slightly off-axis.
• Distances: keep symmetry; place Back 10–20% closer than side surrounds (≈ +2 dB perceived).
• Sub: quick sub-crawl (move 20–40 cm) and pick the tightest bass; try phase 0/180°.
• Lip-sync: adjust Delay in +10 ms steps if A/V feels off.
• Night/DRC mode: handy for late viewing (fewer peaks and less bass).

Guide 3 — Ready-made profiles (save and switch)

Cinema/Series

• X40: Center +1 · Surround +2 · Bass 0/+1 · Treble 0
• D80: Center +1 · Surround +2 (global) · Back favored by placement · Bass 0/+1

Clear Dialogue

• X40: Center +2/+3 · Surround –1/0 · Bass –1 · Treble +1
• D80: Center +2/+3 · Surround –1/0 (global) · Bass –1 · Treble +1

Music/Gaming

• X40: Center 0 · Surround 0/+1 · Bass 0 · Treble 0
• D80: Center 0 · Surround 0/+1 (global) · Back 0 (via placement) · Bass 0

Quick checklist

Stereo only → set TV to Bitstream/Passthrough/Auto (not PCM).
Boomy bass → pull the sub 10–30 cm from walls and reduce Bass –1/–2.
Rears too quiet → X40: move surrounds slightly behind and set Surround +1/+2. D80: bring Back closer & aim at you; increase side surround angle.
Odd power-on volume → disable startup sounds and check HDMI-CEC.

This is what has worked for me in both systems.
