Personal Comparison: ULTIMEA D80 vs D80 Boom

Hey everyone 👋 I’m just a sound enthusiast, not a tech expert, but I’m lucky to own both the ULTIMEA D80 and the new D80 Boom, and I wanted to share my personal opinion after testing them thoroughly.

First Impressions

Right out of the box, the difference in size and weight is obvious. The D80 Boom is about 30% larger and heavier than the standard D80. That alone gives you a hint of the power it delivers.

In the photo below, you can clearly see the difference in size:

Movies (Dolby Atmos / HDR10+)

This is where the difference really shines. The Boom sounds much more powerful, with deep, punchy bass, even using the default settings. When you compare them, it feels like two completely different systems. The Boom’s low-end presence and immersive soundstage take the movie experience to another level.

Music

The Boom also stands out in music mode. Bass is strong across all genres. In fact, I had to dial it down a little, because it was very present even at low volume. If you’re a bass lover, this is for you.

Rear Speakers

Another improvement I noticed is in the rear speakers: they sound more defined and alive on the Boom compared to the regular D80. This may be thanks to the latest firmware update (v10).

⚠️ Small Note

While listening to music, I occasionally noticed a slight echo on some tracks. I think this can be resolved with proper EQ adjustment, so it’s not really a downside—just a detail worth mentioning.

Final Thoughts

The ULTIMEA D80 Boom has truly impressed me. For its price, it competes with soundbars that cost €1000 or more. It delivers power, immersive sound, easy setup, modern design, and excellent value.

🔥 Price-to-performance ratio: 10/10

Thanks ULTIMEA for delivering this audio beast
